REQUIREMENTS FOR THE AACI

The AACI, P.App (Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute) designation denotes fully accredited membership in the Institute and may be used by the holder for the appraisal of a full range of real property types.

Please note: anyone seeking the use of the AACI designation must also hold a degree from an accredited university. However, this is an exit requirement, not entrance requirement for candidacy and the degree may be completed during the period of candidacy.

Use of the AACI, P.App designation is granted by the Institute upon successful completion of the following Courses (the majority of which are offered via distance learning by UBC):
• BUSI 330 Foundations of Real Estate Appraisal
• BUSI 100 Micro Foundations of Real Estate Economics
• BUSI 101 Capital Markets and Real Estate
• BUSI 111 Real Property Law & Real Estate Ethics
• BUSI 400 Residential Property Analysis
• BUSI 443 Real Property Assessment
• BUSI 444 Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal
  Communication/Business Report Writing*
• BUSI 121 Foundations of Real Estate Mathematics
• BUSI 331 Real Estate Investment Analysis and Advanced Income Appraisal
• BUSI 442 Case Studies in Appraisal I
• BUSI 452 Case Studies in Appraisal II
• BUSI 300 Urban & Real Estate Economics
• BUSI 401 Commercial Property Analysis
Introduction to Accounting
BUSI 499 Guided Case Study**
BUSI 460 Forecasting***

and the following Professional Requirements:
  Applied Experience
  The Standards Seminar
  AACI, P.App Interview

*Students who have completed:
An undergraduate degree (120 credits - 4 years) at an English- or French-speaking university or
• BUSI 499 (Guided Case Study - a requirement for the AACI)
Receive and exemption from the Communications/Business Report Writing course.

**This is a two-term course and fulfills AIC's requirement for an Income Demonstration Report.

***Please note that BUSI 460 is under development. The requirement will be waived until such time as the course is introduced.
