REQUIREMENTS FOR THE CRA

The CRA (Canadian Residential Appraiser) designation denotes members qualified in the appraisal and valuation of individual, undeveloped residential dwelling sites up to dwellings containing not more than four self-contained family housing units.

Use of the CRA designation is granted by the Institute upon successful completion of the following Courses (the majority of which are offered via distance learning by UBC):
• BUSI330Foundations of Real Estate Appraisal
• BUSI100Micro Foundations of Real Estate Economics
• BUSI101Capital Markets and Real Estate
• BUSI111Real Property Law & Real Estate Ethics
• BUSI400Residential Property Analysis
• BUSI443Real Property Assessment
• BUSI444Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal
 Communication/Business Report Writing*

and the following Professional Requirements:
 Demonstration Appraisal Report - Single Family Dwelling
 Applied Experience
 The Standards Seminar
 CRA Interview

*Students who have completed:
An undergraduate degree (120 credits - 4 years) at an English- or French-speaking university or
• BUSI499 (Guided Case Study - a requirement for the AACI)
Receive and exemption from the Communications/Business Report Writing course.
